There
has been a summer of turmoil in urban cities. Violence is up and hope
is down. In part and parcel the dilemma of Black America rests solely
upon the shoulders of ones own people. Many blame the government and
others blame black leadership but clearly the definitive answer lies
within the soul and character of every African American themselves.
From the early chapters of our love hate relationship in America we
have cast our fortune arm in arm with what others have felt was best
for our people. We once were engulfed in the bonds of slavery chains
and all forced to Work as sub servant laborers with no compensation. In
many ways the core of our very problems today are rooted in that same
slavery. There are no more dogs and fire hoses beating us back from
seeking equality but there is a new form of slavery it is a glossier
version the new technologic upgraded edition called economic slavery
and comes to us via the new era of technology of incarceration. Did you
know that African American young males are nine times more
likely to be murdered Counterparts? Do you realize that more young
African American men are incarcerated than are in colleges and
universities in our nation?
We as a people must first be willing to
come to the table of discussion and seek answers to our own
misfortunes. We must empower ourselves to create an economic engine and
jobs on our own that will provide job opportunities within our
community. We must learn the tenderness of giving back and engaging in
helping each other. We must reeducate our masses to understand that
your neighbor is a part of that extended family they are your brothers
and sisters. We must regenerate the thought process that there is a
value to life and therefore remind our young people that the taking of
a life is wrong and sinful. We must engage our leaders into a
harmonious gathering and remind them that we need them to be aligned
working together for the common good of our community.
Americas new revolution is one that must be fought in the classrooms of America as we give our children the tools they need to prepare For the world of tomorrow. It must be fought by rejuvenating neighborhoods clearing out abandoned store fronts and opening grocery stores, factories, restaurants, clothing stores and in that vein creating jobs and commerce within our own community. When we take the same drive that our ancestors once had and utilize our energy in a positive manner we can change the course of the future. Th e revolution as they say shall be televised because we should be disseminating information through he use of technology to our people.
African Americans spend millions of dollars annually as consumers lets have a plan lets all together and provide funding for our own youth programs. Lets get all our churches together and have them invest their funds in banks that provide economic funding to the development of our neighborhoods. Our destiny is in the control of our strengths and weaknesses. Register to Vote get involved get engaged make a difference.
