On High-MUSIC REVIEW ON: Bishop Paul Morton

"On Broken Pieces"- A Hurricane Relief Project
The Williams Brother Present Bishop Paul Morton

"On August 29, 2005, The USA Gulf Coast (Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana) was struck by a devastating hurricane named Katrina"

That was the day that Bishop Paul Morton, like thousands of others, lost everything he had, his home and his church. This CD produced by the Williams Brothers is mighty powerful and so very inspiring. The title track On Broken Pieces says it all. "I am convinced that we can build on broken pieces". Bishops sings from his heart and soul about real loss and pain that so many still feel, and can't express. He is the voice of broken people.

The last protest

The book documents the scintillating running career of Lee Evans, including his outstanding quartermiling seasons leading up to the 1968 Olympics, "Speed City" at San Jose State, Harry Edwards and the proposed Olympic boycott, and the stresses of Mexico City, where Lee won the 400 and anchored the 4x400 team, both in WR times. The Olympics where raised fists caused fits. Heroes and villains stride through Murphy's story, but better still, there are people captured in time, making choices without certainty as to their impact, only as to the justness of their cause.

The color of water

As a young black boy in Brooklyn, James McBride wondered why his mother looked different. When he asked her if she was white or black, she would answer, "I'm light-skinned." Finally, when he had become an adult, she told him her story. She was a rabbi's daughter, born in Poland, raised in the American South. McBride's tribute, now published in a 10th anniversary edition, has become a classic in healthy race relations, a topic we are all apparently still learning.
