Liberty's Pushing For The Gold

Article by: Ray Ortiz
The WNBA’s New York Liberty, one of the best and most exciting shows
this side of the Metropolitan area. Cappie Pondexter, Essence Carson
and Kia Vaughn, all starred at Rutgers University in nearby New
Brunswick, N.J. ; they make up the core of this exciting women’s
basketball team. On any given night you can watch Pondexter shake her
defender off and shoot a jumper in the defender’s face; Carson go
between her legs, behind her back and score on a driving lay-up or
Vaughn scoring on a turnaround jump shot. You can also watch Nicole
Powell shoot her nicely formed 3 point jumper, Plenette Pearson
grabbing a strong rebound off the boards or 1st year player Alex
Montgomery coming off the bench hitting a jump shot, grabbing a rebound
or bursting on defense to start a fast break. All these players are
helping our NY Liberty women basketball team push for a playoff spot.
At this writing they trail the Indiana Fever and the Connecticut for
1st place in a very difficult Eastern Division. It’s a wonder why they
are not in 1st place. However, this is the Eastern Division with so
many good players on the teams. All this excitement can be found in the
State of the Art Downtown Newark’s Prudential Center. A priceless event
that will keep you entertained throughout the night. Come on and get
the Liberty’s push for the ultimate goal, a Championship in the
Metropolitan area. As exciting an event as any team or player in this
the Women’s National Basketball Association.
