Katrina One Year Later. Did America fail its own people.

It is hard to believe that one year has passed since the tragedy of Katrina. We are all aware of the terrible devastation that occurred and the poor efforts and lack of response on behalf of the United States government.

Thousands of New Orleans and gulf coast residents have still not been able to return to their homes.

Assistance in a timely and organized fashion still has not been implemented by the US government. We seem to be able to gear up and provide assistance, aid and support to the entire world faster than we can take care of US citizens.

March to Atlanta * July 4 - 11, 2006

Part I of III

On July 4, 2006, student-athletes from ANSUN Tae Kwon Do left Martin Luther King Drive in Jersey City, New Jersey, and began a journey to Atlanta, Georgia, to compete in the USA Tae Kwon Do Junior Olympics at the Georgia Dome.

During the Civil War, Jersey City was the last "station" on the Underground Railroad route through New Jersey. Tens of thousands of fugitive slaves arrived here from several states, such as Maryland, Virginia, and North and South Carolina. For many of them, Jersey City's Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church, 597 Bergen Ave., was a welcoming place to pray and rest.

The Binational Plight - Discrimination in Immigration Law

The fate of GLBT immigrants and their families continues to be uncertain under U.S. immigration law. Unlike many other countries including Canada, France and Australia, the United States has no category for domestic partners under immigration law. The general rule is that foreign nationals married to American citizens of the same-sex cannot obtain legal permanent residency through their partnership.
